Kargil Day is celebrated on 26th of July.
In 1999, Pakistani infiltrators were captured on the hills of Kargil, Operation Vijay started from May 8 and ran till 26 July. In this action, 527 Indian soldiers were martyred and about 1363 were injured. In this battle, nearly three thousand Pakistanis of Pakistan were killed, after which Indian Army launched Operation Victory against them. Since then, Kargil Day is celebrated on 26th July.
